The stores are hawking outerwear and while passing by Starbucks the other day, I noticed that they’ve unleashed their Pumpkin Spice Lattes to their adoring fans. Whether the temperatures outside reflect it or not, fall is on the way. A few weeks ago a friend asked me about what my favorite fall albums were and I was a bit perplexed. I certainly think of the seasons when it comes to food and style, but not necessarily for music. I’ve reflected on it and you’ll see some of it in this month’s inaugural Spotify playlist.
I had to start off with the track Sweater Weather, as I’m a bit obsessed with having some here in the South. We’ve had a rather wet summer and I’m looking forward to the leaves falling and possibly heading up to the mountains this fall. There are a number of recent releases, and then a couple that spoke to me in terms of the season. One track is from an EP from Atlanta band PLS PLS, that happens to have a good friend as a band member. The Atlanta theme continues with tracks by Janelle Monae (as you know, I’m a big fan) and Goodie Mob. Mary Lambert, of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis‘ Same Love fame, has released a full track and video for She Keeps Me Warm, featured in the chart topper. London’s Sivu and Nashville’s Alanna Royale are both new to me and have EP’s – I’d love to hear full length albums from both of them. Kimbra’s tune from her 2012 album felt like a fun way to finish up the set. I hope you enjoy this playlist, I had a fun morning creating it.
